G20 SUMMIT
ABOUT THE COMMITTEE
SUMMIT was established in 2017 by San Bonifacio de las Lanzas School. As a bilingual institution, the Social Studies Department created this committee to provide students with a space where they could strengthen their English communication skills while participating in discussions inspired by the United Nations model.
Within this committee, delegates represent Heads of State who debate issues concerning the United Nations as well as other major global challenges that influence the development and future of nations. Since they act as Heads of State, they are not bound by international legislation in the same way as other UN bodies. Instead, they have broad autonomy to make decisions they believe best serve their countries’ interests. Therefore, participants are expected to have a solid understanding of their assigned country’s political, economic, and social context, as well as the ideology and priorities of its Head of State.

PERFIL
Tomás Bonilla is a 17-year-old student who began his journey in Model United Nations in 2024. His path in the model has been a constant opportunity for personal growth and discovery, grounded in remarkable empathy and an exceptional ability to connect with others, qualities that have allowed him to authentically connect with his peers and develop key skills for his future.
Motivated by a deep love for the model, Tomás takes on leadership in the SUMMIT committee with the purpose of transmitting that same passion to the delegates. His main objective is to guide participants in the art of debating as a transformative tool for life, while also promoting an English-speaking space that challenges students to surpass their limits and strengthen their command of the language in a dynamic and demanding environment.
Tomás leaves his mark through his closeness, his spirit of self-improvement, and his commitment to creating a space where formal debate is also a channel for personal growth and continuous learning.
PERFIL
Ana Gabriela López is a 17-year-old student with an outstanding track record in Model United Nations since 2023. Her journey in the model has been characterized by an impeccable level of preparation and rigorous commitment to every project she undertakes, qualities that have established her as a benchmark of academic excellence within SBLMUN, having been awarded the Best Position Paper award in SUMMIT in the 2024 and 2025 editions.
SUMMIT has been the setting where she has grown the most as a delegate, and today she proudly takes on the co-presidency of this committee. Passionate about mastering the English language, high-level diplomacy, and strategic decision-making while representing heads of state, Ana Gabriela seeks to offer participants a deeply enriching experience. From the dais, she promotes a debate space focused on negotiation, the pursuit of global consensus, and the strengthening of communicative confidence and critical thinking.
